Craniopharyngioma

A craniopharyngioma is a benign tumour that develops near the pituitary gland.

This tumour most commonly affects children 5 – 10 years of age. Adults can sometimes be affected. Boys and girls are equally likely to develop this condition.

Craniopharyngioma causes symptoms including:

  • Headache
  • Troubles with balancing
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting

Tests used to diagnose this tumour include:

  • CT scan
  • MRI scan
  • Neurological examination
